I work for the State in a Chase Bank building in Arlington. The Chase Bank building houses State workers, and various other people and agencies such as real estate, travel agency, etc. Today they came over the intercom for us State workers and said that someone had a Navy Blue BMW parked in the reserved Chase Bank parking space. Like any of us would have a BMW hello we are State Workers. Now if they had said Ford, Honda or Toyota that would be a different story.

Dreamgirls=Jennifer Hudson's Breakout Role

So Tracy and I went to see Dreamgirls last night. All I have to say is wow. It was a very good movie overall but the standout to me was Jennifer Hudson. Man can that girl sing. There is one scene in particular with this one song that just left me speechless. What a performance she gave. Not only was the song incredible but the emotion she showed while performing it should win her every award this she is eligible for. I highly recommend this movie.

This is what an entire Dallas Cowboys season came down to. A fumbled snap on a potential 19 yard winning field goal. My friend Tracy and I watched in horror at the No Frills Grill as the drama unfolded. Typical. This is so typical of the Cowboys, to have some shenanigans happen and lose the game. Any cuss word you can think of was said by me at that moment. I totally went tourette's and I still feel like I could right now. Cowboys you better start preparing for next season right now because as a die hard Cowboy fan all I want from you next season is no more excuses or shananigans.

On a side note Tracy has come up with new cuss word. The new word is "Bobdammit". This way you don't take the lord's name in vane, but it still rolls off the tongue quite well. IT has been said by me many times now.

I believe that no matter how we are brought up, for some reason we have certain values that are just ingrained into our DNA. One value ingrained into my DNA is a strong sense of family. On Monday I went to an uncle's funeral in grand ole Muenster, TX. The uncle was one of my dad's brother's. My dad has been deceased for 14 years now and even when he was alive I was not very close to his family. Nevertheless when I was called by one of my cousin's and told of his passing I immediately knew that I was going to attend the funeral. This meant taking vacation from work because uncles don't count as immediate family. I also missed a committee meeting, and had to drive 1.5 hrs both ways. I say all this because it was my strong sense of family and family duty that compelled me to attend the funeral. I attended the funeral alone and spent all morning socializing with a family I rarely see, and explaining as I call it "who I belong to". I am thankful that I have such a strong sense of family and I hope my future children acquire those same genes that I think have been passed down in my family for ages.

I was offered and accepted a new job today! It is definitely a promotion. My pay is higher and the position is in another department with less direct client contact and more administrative duties.

I worked really hard on completing my master's degree in hopes that it would lead to new job opportunities such as this.

Lightning exits woman's bottom

A WOMAN has suffered severe burning to her anus after being struck by lightning which hit her in the mouth and passed right through her body.

Natasha Timarovic, 27, was cleaning her teeth at in her home in the Croatian city of Zadar when lightning struck the building.

She said: "I had just put my mouth under the tap to rinse away the toothpaste when the lightning must have struck the building.

"I don't remember much after that, but I was later told that the lightning had travelled down the water pipe and struck me on the mouth, passing through my body.

"It was incredibly painful, I felt it pass through my torso and then I don't remember much at all." Doctors at the city hospital where she was treated for burns to the mouth and rear said: "The accident is bizarre but not impossible."

She was wearing rubber bathroom shoes at the time and so instead of earthing through her feet it appears the electricity shot out of her backside," a medic told local newspaper, 24 Sata.

"It appears to have earthed through the damp shower curtain that she was touching as she bent over to put her mouth under the tap. If she had not been wearing the shoes she would probably have been killed by the blast."

24 Sata said the young woman had been released from hospital after being kept in overnight and was expected to make a full recovery.

A couple months ago I agreed to pay tribute to a fallen hero of 9/11 along with thousands of other blog writers.

My hero is Richard Bruce Van Hine age 48 from Greenwood Lake, New York. A 12-year veteran of the New York Fire Department, on duty at FDNY Squad 41 in the Bronx on Sept. 11 and one of the 343 firefighters who perished at the World Trade Center. According to his wife, Ann, everyone who knew him called him Bruce. Bruce and Ann were married in 1980 and had been married 21 years. They have 2 daughters Emily now 22 and Meghan now 19.

Bruce Van Hine was an avid outdoorsman who left Bibles on the Appalachian Trail, where he frequently hiked. He was a member of and served in the ministry of Warwick Valley Church of the Nazarene in Warwick, N.Y. He also taught at the Fire Department Training Academy at Randall's Island.

I am honored to be afforded the opportunity to pay tribute to this hero, because without him and so many other's I would not have the freedom or the luxuries I have today.

Today is a day to reflect and honor. Today is a day to put politics aside, opinions about the government aside, and anything else aside and come together to say "I'm Proud to be an American" and I'm Proud to Pay Tribute to an America hero Richard Bruce Van Hine.

Well, after a week without TV I finally have Comcast cable. I did not really want cable but alas there are trees in the way of where I would put a satellite. Oh well, all I really care about is having TV and a DVR. I have missed having the TV on for background noise at the beginning of my evening when I'm cooking dinner, doing laundry or whatever.

My mother was down for the labor day weekend to see my new place and hang out. We didn't do anything except go eat steaks at Texas Land and Cattle and No Frills one night too. Labor was spent being lazy, watching Veronica Mars Season 2 DVD's, Prison Break, and The Closer.

Today it's back to work planning for the September workload.

Moving and other news

Well folks I have settled into my new apartment and I must say that I like my new place. It will take a little while for me to adjust to living by myself again, but so far so good. This weekend is Labor Day weekend and my mother is coming down to spent the weekend and see my new place. I am excited for her to come down and for us to hang out.

There was a problem with installing a new satellite at my new place, therefore I am without TV right now until at least Friday. In the meantime I have rented the TV show Veronica Mars and I am watching several episodes everynight to fill my TV fix. I have to say that Veronica Mars is a very good show and I am surprised that I have not watched it before. It must be on when I watch something else. It's nice to watch the episodes on DVD because all the commercials are taken out and you can just go from episode to episode.

Tonight I plan on finding the episode of Prison Break that I missed list night on youtube.com

Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs. Still, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart.

Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the army, and the secret services that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about. The Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand.

After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing.

On every occasion, they started singing their traditional song: "God Bless America!" I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people.

How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put in a collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy.

What on earth can unite the Americans in such a way? Their land? Their galloping history? Their economic Power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace I thought things over, but I reached only one conclusion... Only freedom can work such miracles.

Hello all. I'm here in wyoming and coming home on wednesday. Yesterday we went down to the Snake river and I canoed for the first time. It was alot of fun even though we did tip our canoe a couple of times. The other day I was fishing behind the ranch that i'm on and saw two deer about 50 feet in front of me. They hung around a while and ate grass. Occasionally they would look over at me when I made a noise. I have really enjoyed wyoming and am so glad I got to come.

I will be in Jackson Wyoming visiting my good friend Jenn while see works at a dude ranch for teenage children. I will be there for a full week, and Jenn has quite a few fun activities planned. We will be : fishing on crystal clear lake, riding the horses, shopping in Jackson, floating down one of the rivers, swimming, and anything else we can think of. The high temperatures there are middle 70s with lows in the 40s. I have never been to Wyoming and I have not had an actual vacation in about 4 years. I am SUPER excited to see my friend Jenn and looking forward to a needed and deserved vacation away from Texas.

Your Average Monday Morning Except for the Migraine

I learned several months ago that I have migraine headaches. This morning when I woke up I just so happened to have a migraine. I will say that in the past when I heard of people having migraine's I would think, ok a really bad headache, that sucks. Now that I am a migraine sufferer I have much sympathy for all the other sufferers.

I went ahead and came into work this morning, and took my migraine medicine with my morning cereal. My migraine's feel like someone has stabbed me with a knife right above my left eye. The pain is constant and sharp, and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. Thank goodness for the medicine because I would not be able to type right now let alone even look at the computer screen without it.

In other news. I went and saw my mother on Saturday. We went to my favorite place to eat( the Peach Orchard) in Oklahoma and played Bingo. We did not win at Bingo even though I found a penny in the parking lot ( it should have been lucky).

Tomorrow I am going to the horse races at Lone Star Park. Big bucks no whammy's!

I was a hummingbird...

Last night while watching some tivo'd Jeopardy with Tracy I learned something about hummingbirds. Hummingbirds are attracted to Red flowers, and can put themselves into a hibernation like state to conserve energy.

Now those of you that know me know that Red is my favorite color, and my favorite thing to do is sleep in. Therefore, I am proclaiming that I was a hummingbird in a past life.

I work in a bank building in Arlington that has many windows and my cubicle just so happens to be by the window. It's Texas and it's HOT so I assume my work area will be a little warmer than those in the middle of the building. I have a temp gauge on a file cabinet in my work area that consistently reads 82 degrees all day long for the past month or so. Today I finally complained again(I have called 3 times in the past month) about the heat and requested building maintenance check it out.

Maintenance comes to check it out and you wanna guess what they said? He said and I quote "Well we've got the heat turned off now"

What! Heat! You have got to be kidding right. Nope they had the dern heat on.

Maintenance said the control was stuck on heat and now the a/c has been turned on. It only took me complaining 3 times for this to be figured out. All I can do is shake my head.

Hope your working conditions are better than mine.

George Strait and other happenings

So Friday was the George Strait concert at Pizza Hut in Frisco. I had an absolute blast at the concert and even went to IKEA before hand since I was in the area. At IKEA I bought a new shelf unit for $35 that I will use as my entertainment center when I move in August.

I have to say that I was kinda opposed to all the good concerts being in Frisco since it's quite a ways from my house, but now that I have been to the venue I actually like it. We had seating on the field which is like lawn seating with chairs but in the middle of the venue instead of at the back. The venue had good views of the stage, and beer and restrooms were readily accessible.

On Saturday my mother came over to the house and we fired up the Bar-B- Q cooking chicken and pork chops. Mom stayed until Monday morning, and we didn't really do anything except hang out in the house watching movies and eating. That is my ideal memorial day weekend. Hanging out with my mom eating good food and watching movies.

Monday was spent cleaning house and doing laundry, and today it's back to work. Hope your weekend was a good as mine.

Nothing super exciting to post today other than the George Strait concert is this Friday. It is at the Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, which is a venue I have never been to before. Apparently it is the new place to have all the current concerts, and Kenny Chesney is also scheduled to be there July 22nd. This will give Jessica and I an opportunity to scope out good picture taking locations when we go see Kenny. In other news, this weekend was good as I spent it sorting through and getting rid of various papers , doing laundry, getting the car washed and oil changed, and the weekly trip to the land of Wal-mart. Wednesday I am meeting Kristin and the kids for a belated birthday lunch and probably a movie.

It's Official

Grades were posted yesterday and I got a "B" on my final paper. A "B" is good but I had A's in everything else and would have liked to graduate with a 4.0 GPA. As it stands my GPA is 3.889. Oh well, I'll live with the "B". I am officially finished with school and I am so happy. A WOOHOO.

I am going to have a post graduation and birthday get together on June 17th @ 7pm at Dave and Buster's in Dallas. Mark your calendar's now. I'll be sending out invitations later.

So this is me, Ryan and Hunter at Texas Motor Speedway in Victory Lane. We went to the Laps for Charity where you pay to drive your own car around the race track. I have to say that we have a BLAST! It was so much fun. We got up to 83 miles per hour on the turns. There were several car clubs there with a variety of cars such as corvette's, mustang's, mini cars, and we even saw a porche. I would definitely recommend this event to any NASCAR enthusiast or people who like to drive fast.

Well, since some of my friends have decided to become Xanga traitors I figured I would also try out blogspot. We'll see if my new blog has more visitors.

This week is offically the last week of the spring semester at UTA. I have finished my internship and my final paper. Tomorrow is graduation but I have decided not to walk because I really only care about the diploma. I wonder how long it takes UTA to mail you your diploma?

The last week of May I will finally be able to switch back to a normal 5 day work week instead of this 4 ten hour day thing I have been working since August. It's just in time because I don't think I can stand the whole starting work at 7am anymore.
